Every Woot! deal has a Condition line, and it matters as much as the price. A "new" item and a "refurbished" one at the same price are very different deals, and so are their warranties. Here's what each label means, and how to shop for only the conditions you want.
- of live deals are new
- 93%
- are refurbished
- 4%
- are open box
- 2.6%
- are used
- Under 0.1%
That's the mix on a Tuesday in October 2026, grouped the way BetterWoot's condition filter groups them. Most deals are new, but it varies a lot by category: in Computers, more than half the deals weren't new, against about 12% in Electronics and a few percent elsewhere.
What the labels mean
Woot! writes conditions some 30 ways. They boil down to four kinds. Where Woot! defines a label on its deal pages, that's the definition below; otherwise it's the label's usual meaning in retail. Either way, the deal page has the final word.
New
| Label | What it means |
|---|---|
| New | Brand new, in the manufacturer's packaging. |
| New - International Version | New, but made for another country's market. Packaging, language, and region settings can differ, so read the deal's details. |
| New - Bulk Packaging, New (Brown Box) | New, without the retail box: plain or minimal packaging. |
Open box
| Label | What it means |
|---|---|
| Open Box, New; Open Box | Woot!'s definition: the box has been opened, because the item was a photo sample, a tested working customer return, or had damaged packaging. Some nonessential items may be missing from the box. Most open-box deals are in Clearance. |
| New (Tester) | Woot!'s definition, for fragrances: brand new and never sprayed, made by the manufacturer, and sometimes sold in a plain box or without the retail box. BetterWoot groups these with open box. |
Refurbished
| Label | What it means |
|---|---|
| Factory Reconditioned, Factory Refurbished | Restored to working order by the manufacturer. |
| Amazon Refurbished, Apple Refurbished, Certified Refurbished | Restored and inspected by Amazon, Apple, or a certified refurbisher. |
| Grade A Refurbished, Refurbished | Restored to working order, usually by a third party. "Grade A" generally means little visible wear, but grades aren't standardized. |
| Refurbished (Scratch & Dent) | Woot!'s definition, for an Apple Watch: moderate wear like scratches, dents, and dings, but tested to work fully, with the battery at 80% capacity or more. |
Used
| Label | What it means |
|---|---|
| Like-New | Used, with little or no wear. BetterWoot counts it as used. |
| Used, Pre-Owned | Used. Expect wear, and read the details for what's included. |
The warranty line matters
Every deal page lists a Warranty, and it can differ more than the condition does. Four deals listed on the same day in October 2026:
| Condition | Warranty |
|---|---|
| Factory Reconditioned (an MSI mini PC) | 180-day MSI warranty |
| Grade A Refurbished (a Bose speaker) | 1-year warranty from a third party |
| Amazon Refurbished (a Ring doorbell) | 90-day Woot! limited warranty |
| Refurbished, Scratch & Dent (an Apple Watch) | 2-year warranty |
When there's no manufacturer warranty, Woot!'s own limited warranty applies, usually for 90 days. For a factory-reconditioned computer, Woot!'s FAQ says to register it with the manufacturer so the warranty is assigned to you. (See Woot!'s return policy for what happens before the warranty kicks in.)
Deals that mix conditions
One deal can offer several options, and each option has its own condition: a new one and an open-box one, say. It's not common. Of about 1,000 deals BetterWoot checked option by option in October 2026, 10 mixed conditions. But it's why the condition on a deal's list card isn't always the condition of the option you pick.
How to shop by condition
Woot!'s own lists can't filter by condition. BetterWoot can:
- BetterWoot Search has a Condition filter. Uncheck what you don't want, like everything but new.
- The BetterWoot extension adds the same filter to Woot!'s All Deals and category lists. It checks each option's condition, so a deal is hidden only when every option is a condition you've unchecked.
Questions
Is refurbished from Woot! any good?
Often, yes, especially factory reconditioned or manufacturer-refurbished items with a real warranty. Check who refurbished it and the warranty line before you buy.
Does open box mean used?
Not necessarily. On Woot!, open box means the box was opened: a photo sample, a tested customer return, or damaged packaging. Some accessories may be missing.
What's a tester?
A fragrance that's brand new and unused, made by the manufacturer for store testing, sold without the full retail packaging.
